The importance of window tint.

The Inland Empire sun isn’t subtle. It bakes your dashboard, fades your interior, heats your seats to uncomfortable levels, and sends UV rays straight through your windows every single day, even on cloudy ones.

Most people think window tint is about looks. And sure, freshly tinted car looks sharp. But the real reason to tint? Protection.

Your skin. UV rays don’t stop at your car window. Prolonged exposure while driving is a leading cause of UV related skin damage. All three Autobahn window tint options carried by Honest Tint block out up to 99% of harmful UV rays.

Your interior. Leather cracks. Dashboards warp. Upholstery fades. Heat and UV exposure break down your interior over time. Tint slows that process significantly.

  • It depends on how much of the car you're doing and which film you pick. If you just want the front two doors, our entry-level BLACK film starts at $100; a full tint on a regular sedan (everything except the windshield) runs $225 with BLACK.

    Step up to BLACK CERAMIC and it's $150 for the front doors, $300 for a full sedan tint (no windshield). Pricing goes up from there for our two top ceramic films, i3 and i3+, depending on your vehicle and how much heat rejection you want.

  • For most vehicles, plan on about 2 hours for the side and rear windows. If you're adding the windshield, or you're in a larger vehicle or a Tesla (that glass is no joke), we ask for 3 hours to do it right.

    We recommend booking an appointment rather than a walk-in if you want a guaranteed slot, especially for the longer jobs.

  • Give it 48 hours before you roll your windows down. The film needs that time to fully cure and bond to the glass roll them down too soon and you risk delamination (the edges lifting or peeling).

    Good news on the other end: you can wash your car right away. Since the tint's applied to the inside of the glass, it's not exposed to water, soap, or a trip through the car wash no waiting period there.

  • Yes, but only within limits — California allows non-reflective tint on the top 4 inches of the windshield, nothing more. It's a common question because plenty of other states allow full windshield strips or more coverage, so if you're used to rules from somewhere else, California's stricter here.

  • For most people, yes. Dyed tint is the budget option it darkens the glass and cuts glare, but it doesn't do much for heat, and it fades over time. Ceramic tint uses actual ceramic particles to block infrared heat and UV, so it stays cooler inside the car, keeps its color instead of turning purple, and won't interfere with your phone or GPS signal the way some metallic films can.

    It's also not one-size-fits-all our ceramic lineup scales with how much heat rejection you want. BLACK CERAMIC is a single-layer ceramic film, i3 steps up to 3 layers, and i3+ is our top-tier 4-layer film that blocks up to 99% of infrared heat. The more layers, the more heat you're keeping out so it comes down to how brutal your parking situation is and how much you're willing to spend to fix it.

  • Cheap film can start to fail, and it's a bigger problem in this industry than people realize — a lot of shops install unbranded film sourced cheap from overseas (China is a common source) with no real backing behind it. It looks fine on day one, but any heat rejection you paid for usually only lasts a few months before the film starts to fail, and there's no manufacturer standing behind it when that happens.

    That's why it matters to get a real warranty, not just a shop's word — ask for one tied to the actual roll of film installed, with a serial number. Every Autobahn™ film we install is registered that way, so if anything goes wrong, it's backed by the manufacturer, not just us. It's the easiest way to tell the difference between a legit install and a shop cutting corners.
